When it's not enough, get it restock. Is it really this easy? Yes! However, the problem comes when you are unaware that these stocks are not enough or you have just too many inventories to manage! Here are a few tips to help you! 1) Ensure you have a system to keep track of your inventory . This means a proper sign-in/out for item withdrawal. Identify which item has to be withdrawn at intervals such as every week or month; this will give you a good estimation of when to restock. 2) If you have a large inventory under your account to manage, you should find an inventory management software to help you track in/out of the items. 3) Sometimes, consumable items are not tracked, and this can be an issue when they are not restocked on time. You may either have the users report to you on the item depletion or be pro-active in checking the inventory yourself. This depends on company culture and how you convince relevant stakeholders/departments. It is essential you stock with a controlled quantity to prevent users from misusing them. 4) It is recommended to keep to a few suppliers who can provide you cheaper price and ad-hoc deliveries when required. Moreover, in some cases when the required item is obsoleted, the best person to seek advice for replacement will be the supplier. 5) When someone is not authorized to withdraw the item, especially consumable and untracked items, the best way is to have the relevant stakeholders/departments assign a designated person for item withdrawal . This will prevent misunderstanding. 6) If you are on-the-ground person, it is best you allocate the inventory yourself since you know when the items should be replenished. Request to hire an assistant to help you if you are overloaded. You may also like Disclaimer We did our best to provide you with thought-through content. Ensure patients are well-taken care of mentally and physically. 1) When patients need to be fasted due to medical procedures yet insist on getting food, we have to explain to them the importance of fast recovery versus staying in the hospital for an extended period. Questions used to persuade them are; i) Do you want to have a longer stay here? Or to return to the comfort of your home? ii) A longer stay here means more costly, are you sure a $5 dollar food is important than your monthly hospital bill? 2) Because the patient was admitted suddenly, they do not have charging accessories for their handphones . When they request for one and we are unable to provide it immediately, some may find other ways to make you busy in the effort to draw your attention or vent an anger; i) Asking you to make drinks multiple times ii) Help them with adjusting their beds 3) Some patients from higher class wards tend to order food delivery without informing us upfront. And because they are unable to pick up the food, they will request us to help them. They may also ask us to purchase newspaper or soft drinks from the canteen with some of them not paying us any money. Often, due to our overloading work, we will nicely reject the request. Tips Whenever a patient is being over demanding , we have the rights to speak to them nicely of our main responsibilities; that is to help patients who needs us most. We may communicate to the patient that some of their request can be made, but within a certain timing when manpower demand is not that tight. You may consider rejecting unreasonable requests beyond your capabilities by stating that the rules and regulations disallow certain requests and to seek their understanding. We need to ensure the project is moving forward correctly! Aligning expectations with the customers and relevant stakeholders is important as improvements can be made and doubts can be clarified. Here, we identified the few good practices; 1) Review is done with the customer at every interval, typically every week . I will email customers about the agenda before the meeting so they can decide the duration of the meeting, or if not, discuss via email or online. 2) Using the checklist that I have created and discussed from past meetings, I will review the functions and the requirements to gather feedback. 3) Sometimes, customers may not like their initial request, and they will ask for a change. The common ones are; i) User interface (UI) such as the location of where to access functions, actions, and help buttons. Having adequate segregation of functions and help buttons allow a neater user experience. The dropdown bar can be useful if there are many functions in the program. ii) Follow as close to the requirement as the customer wants. They often have a say on the user interface while letting me handle the function myself. A quick tip is as long as I get their required process flow of the app, they are very supportive of the functions I implemented. iii) Having patience is a good trait since there are times when customers require multiple changes to the app. Tips Take a further step to clarify customers’ demands when they are not clear with their requirements. Any concerns raised can be promptly addressed, and edits can be made. Remember to add in whatever discussed into a checklist for review work later. Include timeline as well! This is to minimise the additional time taken to edit so we can concentrate on other tasks. - Project Management as an Engineer
Manage expectations of customers by not overselling the project and timeline, regular discussion with them helps in aligning and matching current and new expectations Project Management as an Engineer Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:53:33 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! There are 3 important considerations when managing an engineering project. They are; 1) Managing People 2) Managing Time 3) Managing Finance Manage People - Matching the skills of individuals to the right task - Motivating the team to ensure they are motivated and to maintain quality delivery of results - Keeping the team well aware of latest updates from customer to prevent “last minute” rush for work - Provide clear instructions and executions to prevent misunderstanding to different stakeholders - Manage expectations of customers by not overselling the project and timeline, regular discussion with them helps in aligning and matching current and new expectations Manage Time - The project has adequate fund to last throughout committed time to customer - Optimizing cost by understand the actual market price from competitor and multiple vendors during course of project - Plan for Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) of all products beforehand, a good rule of thumb is to have 10% spares for critical and frequently used items - If you can outsource the services to a supplier to expedite the process, you may do so Manage Finance - When requiring manpower, requests beforehand instead of “last minute” - Avoid having the mentality to delay the task before all other possible solutions are exhausted. If you are unable to deliver the full project on time, your company will be fined with Liquidated Damage (LD) charges. - Always include intentional spare time during planning to ensure project has proper time buffer to manage unforeseen circumstances - Have the mindset to motivate everyone to finish their tasks quickly and reliably , otherwise, team members may take time for granted - Know how to identify tasks or individuals who are stopping things from moving , then, resolve it quickly to ensure work schedules are properly met You may also like Working with Video Analytics (VA) software RMA and Maintenance Networking (Non-Sales) Disclaimer We did our best to provide you with thought-through content. Traveling Overseas (Machinery Sales) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 8 June 2021 at 4:21:20 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! The purpose of our business trip is to meet with potential prospects and close sales that our agents are unable to. Per trip of 3 to 5 days, I usually meet 1 to 5 customers, with lodging and local chauffeuring both provided by the agent. However, depending on your company, you may have to travel alone, and you must coordinate with the relevant personnel overseas. The tasks which I am supposed to complete includes; 1) Price Negotiation in which customers will ask for price reduction, and I will be ready with the lowest price to offer. Knowing how to bargain based on the local market's standard price is important to keep the profit margin higher . 2) I will conduct site recce and planning before commencing my work. I will study the site's layout to ensure they fulfill both our requirements based on their local electrical and civil engineering standards. This includes studying their land space, land stability, factory space, and location of electrical ports. 3)Technical enquiries such as; i) How to improve the efficiency of low resource consumption ii) How to maximize production iii) How to reduce utility costs for water and electricity iv) How to predict production using the given input that defines their system. I will also make use of calculations and data from past customers. 4) When traveling to meet existing customers, I will visit the factory first before heading to meet their high management. This allows me to understand the situation on the ground and craft solutions ahead of the discussion. Tips i) A well thought out itinerary will be beneficial and should reflect what you hope to accomplish during this trip. For instance, having two or three appointments confirmed well in advance and spaced comfortably throughout the day will be more productive than a hectic schedule. ii) This overseas schedule should also be flexible enough to allow for unexpected problems such as transportation delays and unresolved discussions . iii) Most importantly, show that you are there to provide solution and respect everyone you meet! iv) Note that you might feel tired after the flight , hence if possible, arrange the meeting half or one day after you touched down. This will help you feel refreshed and alert for the negotiation and discussion later on. To help, you will have to understand the situation ensuring there is no miscommunication of expectations and executions. 2) Conduct equipment testing on operations that you are familiar with when you colleague needed help 3) Conduct pre-sales together with sales team when the project is huge and your expertise is required 4) Introduce suppliers and vendors who can be useful to your colleague. This is usually done by introducing them face to face and explain project requirement before they take over 5) If you are going to purchase spare parts such as screws, bolts, cables, and more, it is good to ask if fellow colleagues would like to buy anything from the location you are visiting. This saves them time and effort. Always be clear of the differences between help and responsibility. Helping is using your own resources to help with little to no influence when it comes to performance evaluation. Responsiblity is very related to performance evaluation. Process Enhancement Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:52:52 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! A poor process requires more resources to get things done. This means additional cost, higher chances for human error and reduces worker’s motivation. 1) Being in the role of managing project and people, we must be able to identify mistakes and problems that occur in work processes. To do so, we ourselves have to clearly understand and be experienced with their job. 2) The few types of root causes for such mistakes are ; - Human error - Overconfident - Convenience - Inexperience - Assumptions - Not serious during work To resolve, you may consider using the following methods depending on what's best for the situation ; - Checklist - Send the employee for training - Reward for consistent good job done - Punishment - Have a template that is easy-to-follow 3) Sometimes, as an outsider looking into the process, we are able to spot certain inefficiencies. Here are a few questions you may consider when improving processes - Can a tool be able to reduce the time taken for the process? If a tool is cheap and can greatly improve efficiency, it is definitely a go! - Is the whole process even necessary? This question is asked when the situation or demand has changed but the process did not adapt accordingly. - Is the process parallel or series better? Parallel process increase efficiency but may affect quality as one person may be handling multiple processes at once. Series process allows a person to focus on one task and handover to another. How to manage software developers Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:49:41 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! They say: "Give your software developer time to develop the program." Is it true? It depends. In a fast-paced company, when faced with problems, developers have to seek help immediately. Whereas, for complex developmental job that foresee a longer timeline, you may need to give them time to explore, trial and error. Here are a few ways you can do to manage your developers well! 1) Know your stuffs Depending on the character of the team, some developers tend to propose a long timeline to complete a task with the intention of "buffer" . It is important you seek understanding via; i) asking other developers and colleagues if such job is time-consuming ii) ask the developer to identify the processes of their intended implementation and seek clarity on "showstopper." iii) read more about the task and identify ways if you can negotiate the shorten their timeline proposed. iv) help them priortise if they are managing multiple projects 2) Give clear instructions Provide the developer with a list of tasks and relevant timelines. This will be the checklist that will guide them with their work. It is crucial to break down a big job into chunks of smaller ones to help them achieve the goals in a step-by-step process. Set up meetings to understand what can be done and identify such instructions together with them . You may have them be in the discussions with clients to help them understand the situation better. 3) Prioritisation When there is a sudden surge in demand, developers tend to feel overwhelmed suddenly and unsure of which project to focus on. It is important as manager/project coordinator to keep in close contact with clients and identify which project could be prioritised over another. This often taps on your skills to repurpose more manageable tasks upfront to meet customer's expectations while buying more time for your team. It would help if you can also communicate frequently when prioritisation changed . 4) Outsource or hire if necessary Depending on budgetry, confidentiality and difficulty , decide with your team, who often have more technical depths on areas that could be outsourced or delegated to new hires. Ask questions such as "what solutions do you proposed?", "is your limitation by software or not enough people?", if not enough people, "can these solutions be done by someone else?", "do we need a junior, senior, or can we outsource to freelancers?". If you finally decide to hire, you need to consider the time taken for your team to train a new employee and guide them on the right track. 5) Provide support for training Such support depends on the roles to decide on depths in technicality. As a manager/project coordinator, you should gear yourself to understand software architectures and new features your team could potentially adopt. Ease of implementation should be in your consideration. For developers, you should allocate resources to help them acquire technical know-how to help them feel more competent with their job. This training should be related to your current projects and future potential ones. You need to discuss with team leaders who have technical depths on the type of training to go for. 6) Burnout management An employee who is burned out can have negative effects; such as i) making unintended careless mistakes ii) unable to resolve problems effectively iii) more prone to being hot-tempered iv) takes longer time to accomplish a task v) reduced morale Although treating your team frequently to free meals is viable for the short term, long term burnout is still a problem. As manager/project coordinator, you need to decide if hiring is a viable option , especially when you sense your team's morale is dropping. - Unsatisfied with your school results? Here's 4 tips to help you!
No matter how hard I tried, my results seem stagnant! Here, we share four tips that you can identify and adopt in your study routine! Unsatisfied with your school results? Here's 4 tips to help you! Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: Shinee Lim Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:59:04 am Say Hello Article Tips Say Hello Share with someone you care ! No matter how hard I tried, my results seem stagnant! Here, we share four tips that you can identify and adopt in your study routine! 1) Goal-Setting 2) Environment Tweaking 3) Identifying Style of Work 4) Clarification 1) Goal-Setting - Always plan early by noting down important deadlines on a calendar, such as the next exam or submission. Set a timeline of the work you wish to cover through the weeks - Prioritize the content that has already been taught by revising and working on it first. Given the time, you may work on other topics before your learning in school. - Reward your progress . If you put in effort in the correct direction, persistence will pay off. 2) Environment Tweaking - It doesn't matter if your table is messy or neat or your surroundings' ambiance is noisy or soft. Study in a place that you deem as distraction-free . - Be it studying alone or with peers, empower each other . Share solutions to problems encountered during your learning process, as this speeds up the efficiency of grasping concepts for everyone. 3) Identifying Style of Work - Are you a systematic person? Targeting the first topic/subject and mastering one before moving on to the next. - Are you a multi-tasker? Working on different topics/subjects at a time with no aim of mastering one before the other . - Do you have to follow a list? Compile what needs to be done in an "In" list and state what's completed in the" Out" list. This allows you to track what has been done easily ! You may not necessarily be very detailed when filling the list; a direction can just be good enough. These above styles of work are not exhaustive and can be overlapped with one another. Pick a style that suits you the most . If your current working style is on the list and is ineffective, choose an alternative, and you may find yourself more efficient. 4) Clarification - Have your teacher or lecturer confused you? Knowing if you are in a state of confusion is important because you can plan what to clarify. - Unsure how answers are derived? Take the initiative to learn the steps and concepts involved since many exam questions test on these. - Have you encountered assuming that a topic will not be tested and it actually came out in exams? - Clarify with your teacher or lecturer , otherwise your school mates . - Alternatively, when practicing for exercise or tutorial questions , look out if such topic was brought up. If yes, include this in your revision. You may also like 4 steps to make you reliable! There is a Free Rider in my group in Poly!! What should I do?! I tried so much, but I just can't do well in JC! - Routine checks (Nurse)
Check ECG monitor and compare with previous record if there is any steep changes. This is important to ensure the patient’s health is well monitored and anomalies to be reported immediately. Routine checks (Nurse) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:44:57 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Ensure patient meets the necessary requirement to survive and to maintain their well-being 1) Check ECG monitor and compare with previous record if there is any steep changes . This is important to ensure the patient’s health is well monitored and anomalies to be reported immediately. 2) Check to ensure the ventilator (breathing equipment) is set correctly. If the patient keeps coughing, feels uncomfortable and has odd behaviors, this may be the issue. If you tried and problem persists, you may have to send the patient to critical care. 3) To ensure blood and fluid flow are smooth, check; i) Tubing to ensure they are not kink (pressed) that would cause the flow to stop ii) Loose tubing that would also prevent flow from happening 4) If patients are too violent due to emotions and/or pain, they will tend to pull fluid tubing out, which affects their medical stability. We will then have to use sedative drugs to keep them asleep . If we observe they are sweating, we will have to take their temperature to check if they have a fever. Tips For accountability purposes, always check if the actual readings of ECG are the same as the report provided in the time slot by the previous shift. If numbers are incorrect, seek clarifications and rectify accordingly. Ensure the nurse from the previous shift is aware of the changes and have them acknowledged with a written note and signature. This is important because if the patient pass away suddenly, the person on shift is held accountable . Tradeshow preparation (Machinery Sales) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 8 June 2021 at 4:21:17 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Participating as an exhibitor in our industry's reputable tradeshow helps to build our market presence and generate useful leads. Here are a few good practices to host a good tradeshow; 1) Marketing team will usually manage the liaising and acquiring of the booths and getting the designs done. Occasionally, we are required to help give opinions on the layout , especially when we showcase our machines and/or products. Furthermore, other attractions such as vending machines, beer counter, VIP rooms and more. We may also help to think and source for booth attractions and door gifts to boost brand awareness . An area of 12 square meters in a trade show can easily cost up to SGD30,000, and it varies with the number of days and the type of event. 2) When nearing the event dates, we will invite our existing customers and industry leaders to visit our booth. Depending on the company, your management may agree to pay for the visitor's flight and lodging. We will also take this chance to reconnect with close business partners. At the same time, we will showcase our new improvements on our machines' functionalism and designs. 3) Sometimes, we may create a VIP room to host our close partners. New functions and capabilities of our machines shall then be revealed. This will show the customer how important they are and demonstrate our commitment to product improvisation. 4) I will usually pass the collected name cards to my technical engineers after each event to follow up and understand customers' requirements. For some companies, they may give it to their sales engineer to follow up. If there is an interested customer and would like to know more about the pricing, I will make an online or phone call to discuss further . - Testing of software
Verify if the function works as expected by giving the same input and compute values in both the program and an excel sheet. Purpose is to manually check if the output from excel tallies with my created function. Testing of software Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:43:53 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! We have to ensure input to the program will achieve the desired output. 1) Verify if the function works as expected by giving the same input and compute values in both the program and an excel sheet. Purpose is to manually check if the output from excel tallies with my created function. Note: A more professional and efficient method is to create a script for automated testing ; Usually for larger-scale projects. This means I do not have to verify each value manually, but the script will reflect errors when it captures discrepancies. i) Initial manual verification is still needed for automated testing and will be changed whenever calculations in the source code is edited. ii) Besides calculation, check if an URL is valid using HTTP status code (can easily google the list of codes). The function for this test is called manage.py. However, the shortcoming is if the URL requires pre-login, the status may reflect pass, but in actuality, the page was redirected to the login page. I thought that Django has a good module for automated testing. iii) Automated testing is useful for large projects or facilitates easy troubleshooting in the future where developers are not familiar with the code anymore. 2) Most often, I am using manual testing because the project is small. 3) I will run through my checklist to ensure all testing are aligned to the agreed requirements with my customers. 4) When we are creating a new system referencing from an old one , we will feed the input into both and validate if their results are the same. - Administrative work (Financial Advisor)
Submission of client's application to relevant authorities for process and approval. This is usually an online procedure and all processes are systematically arranged to reduce errors and rejections. Administrative work (Financial Advisor) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:42:57 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! The hassle of doing so much paperwork is to ensure the correct plan is conveyed correctly with a rightful intent. A good system to create clarity when needs arise. 1) Submission Submission of client's application to relevant authorities for process and approval . This is usually an online procedure and all processes are systematically arranged to reduce errors and rejections. 2) Countersigning When filling application for a prospect, we follow templates to help our prospect apply for the plan without rejection. However, we may make some human error while customising the template. Hence, we will have to edit and revisit the prospect to countersign. Experience helps to reduce this error. Always scan a copy of the application for record purposes. 3) Cheque If prospect pays by cheque, we will have to accompany them to the bank and submit the company's cashier order. I will have to issue an official handwritten receipt. The company provides the receipt book. 4) Claims At times of important moments, our priority is to ensure the client can make a claim . I have to make sure; i) Document report is as factual as possible and ensure it aligns to the claiming requirement ii) On events when the client has pass away , I will visit the funeral to pay my respect. The beneficiary will inform us the date and time for such claims. Seek help with senior colleagues if unsure. 5) Change of particulars Change of particulars include contact details and address. Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: Christy Lee Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:58:07 am Say Hello Article Tips Say Hello Share with someone you care ! The lecture-tutorial teaching system is a key feature of Junior College. This mainly differs from secondary school. Therefore, one has to find new ways to adapt and do well. With “excelling at the A-Level” as the end in mind, these specific tips serve to make the preparation process over the two years less of a struggle with your consistent efforts. 1) Style of learning 2) Long-term efforts 3) Planning & goal-setting 4) Practice is key 5) Verify your learning 6) Health & well-being 1) Style of learning i) We need to identify what type of learners you are. Do you fall under; - Visual - Auditory - Hands-on Visual learners use diagrams to better aid learning. Auditory learners can recite the content or listen more to recorded content to stimulate memory. Hands-on learners do better by touching and doing things physically. ii) Learning styles also refer to the environment that allows you to study best. Ask yourself these; - Do you prefer studying at home or outside from home? - Do you prefer quiet places like the library or relatively more noisy ones like cafes? - Can you study with friends or can you only study alone? - Does listening to music while studying distract you or help you focus better? By answering these questions, we can understand how to study more effectively and productively . iii) Different subjects also require different learning styles . These include; - Writing your own notes (beware of spending too much time) - Constant memorisation - Constant practice Additional tips There is no one-size-fits-all way of learning. Experiment with a variety and eventually develop your learning style to study smart and efficiently. 2) Long-term efforts We should not expect rewards without hard work . To do well for ‘A’ Level as well as the examinations leading up to it, you must be prepared to put in consistent hard work These long-term efforts apply to both lectures and tutorials. i) For lectures, - Pay full attention to them as they are the main platform for acquiring new knowledge - Avoid dozing off during lectures and relying on recorded lectures. Make use of your time at school wisely to acquire “how-to” in answering questions. Recorded lectures are only useful if you know how to use it. Acquire sufficient sleep is very important! ii) For tutorials, - Conscientiously complete them and ensure your quality of work. This helps you to understand the process of answering the questions that are relevant to your exams - Avoid accumulating overdue tasks . While sometimes you may have to temporarily prioritise others over studies, make sure to eventually come back to the assignments. A disciplined mindset is very important Additional tips Consistency is key. Long term efforts are more important than short-term ones. This is a time to train your tenacity and resilience “Sow the seeds of hard work and you will reap the fruits of success” Israelmore Ayivor 3) Planning & goal-setting Planning reduces uncertainty and confusion ; thus, results in productivity. i) Areas of planning can include - when to revise concepts - when to memorise content - when to do practices It would be good to have these plans aligned to the lessons your teacher is giving; so you can acquire answers directly during the lessons. ii) While planning, you should also set goals . At the end of completing what you planned to do, you should be able to answer these questions - Which or how many learning outcomes do you want to achieve? - For the upcoming examination, what grade do you want to obtain? - To realise that goal, how should you amend your plan to cater to your needs later on as different commitment starts coming in? iii) Goal-setting allows one to have a direction to work towards Additional tips Set a goal so you can craft a direction to get there. Avoid doing without thinking. Avoid thinking without doing. Many of us will tend to forget this plan usually because they might have many plans later on. A good plan is one that you stick to it and follow through by refining and making it better to reach your goal! 4) Practice is key i) Listening to lectures and completing tutorials are inadequate. Lectures are for you to be exposed to new knowledge for the first time. Tutorials are for you to learn how to apply concepts to problem-solving ii) To complete the learning process, you have to practice either using past-year school papers or the “Ten-year Series”. This allows you to be familiarised with the examination context. You will know how to tackle iconic examination questions that test the same concept repetitively. The purpose is to let you identify the type of questions whenever you see them appear Additional tips “For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.” Aristotle Practice makes improvement! 5) Verify your learning i) Large amount of time is needed for practice. Therefore, avoid practicing without aligning to your plan and causing your precious time to go to waste. ii) Schedule consultations with teachers to make sure you are learning the right way. This includes; - Did I understand this concept correctly? - Am I employing the most appropriate or efficient method to answer or solve this question? iii) If you feel uncomfortable speaking to your teachers, you may want to pick up this skillset as communication is important when you are in the workforce. iv) Nevertheless, it takes time. So start by paying attention in all lessons as other classmates will ask questions that may help you refine your plan Additional tips Learn with guidance. Available time to learn is limited and precious, use them wisely! 6) Health & well-being i) It is inevitable to become stressful while preparing for the major exam. It is important to ensure your mental and physical health to prevent yourself from breaking down or burning out in the process. ii) Pace yourself well and reward yourself with appropriate amounts of time off studying. Breaks can include; - Treating yourself to your favourite snacks - A short nap - Or simply doing your hobbies! iii) Have an adequate amount of sleep and eat healthily . This allows you to welcome each day with energy and positivity . A healthy body also ensures that you can function in the long-term. Imagine working so hard but falling ill near the ‘A’ Level; that will be upsetting! iv) If you need someone to talk to in order to de-stress, never forget about your support systems, such as your friends, teachers, and family members! Additional tips Never neglect your mental and physical health for studies! They are equally important. Instead, strike a balance between work and play. “Have regular hours for work and play; make each day both useful and pleasant, and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well” Louisa May Alcott You may also like Want to become a better leader in JC? Delegation of authority is important because you can't manage everything alone! When you are overloaded, it is important you quickly react by delegation. Here are some ways you can consider! Task Delegation Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:51:11 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Delegation of authority is important because you can't manage everything alone! When you are overloaded, it is important you quickly react by delegation . Here are some ways you can consider! 1) If the project is long term and you foresee that it will take you a fraction of your working hours on top of other assignments , you need to delegate! 2) It is important you make a decision whether to hire. You can consider based on contract, hire an intern or a permanent staff to handover your role while you move up your career ladder. You may also consider hiring individuals from other departments . 3) To shorten the time for training and guidance, it is important there are proper documentation and systems in place to allow the newcomer to adapt faster. 4) When delegating, it is your responsibility to lay out clear objectives and timeline for the person to meet. This is measurable and gives the person a sense of ownership in their role. The skillset you need to hone is timeline estimation and risk management. 5) After delegation, you need to set consistent short and/or long discussion to align expectations in case the tasks are not carried out accordingly to your expectations. 6) You may delegate more task on top of the person's workload. However, you need to have a clear understanding whether you are overloading the person. An overtime worker can easily experience burned out which can affect quality at work. It is important you set aside time for thinking and planning when you have people under you. Instead of being a "do-er", you are also a leader. Knowing how to apply basic English sets the student's foundation in this language. It is important to impart the correct usage of simple English. Here, we explain the good practices on how to do that; 1) Grammar To ensure students can use tenses correctly. This includes knowing the differences between present, past and continuous tense. I will usually pick a few questions that are hard to differentiate so students could discuss and work with their understandings to select the correct answer. I will also explain the reasons behind the answer. Then, let them practice questions that are similar. 2) Vocabulary To ensure students are able to use the correct word in the correct situation . Students are required to learn vocabulary related to their school syllabus. Usually, using pictures to communicate the meaning of a word is useful and interactive. I will also encourage students to use more of the vocabulary that they learned recently. 3) Synthesis To ensure students can connect sentences correctly . This includes letting them know; i) Sentence connectors such as; "In spite of", "In addition", "Firstly" and more ii) Grammatical rules (present tense to past tense for reported speech) iii) Active/passive rules (when a noun is receiving action is called passive, when a noun is making an action is active) 4) Editing To ensure students can identify wrong applications of the basics learned; i) If grammar was used wrongly ii) If a word was spelled wrongly iii) If a vocabulary word was used wrongly iii) If a sentence structure was not connected correctly You may also like Motivate students to have interest Evaluate student's performance (English) How to feedback to parent (Tutor) Teaching English composition Disclaimer We did our best to provide you with thought-through content.
