They may get banned or have the post removed - Stay safe by setting your account private so that you will be able to control the people who can access it 2) Physical Bullying Injuries, torn clothing, or damaged belongings are common signs of physical bullying. If not, parents. If possible, have trusted witnesses to help you. When speaking to teachers or parents, let them know your sufferings first so they can feel the impact how bully had affected you. Interviewing process (Recruiter) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:42:16 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! We will usually do the first round of interview before referring to the hiring manager. The interviewing duration is generally kept within half an hour for both remote and non-remote interviews. My agendas for the interview are; Step 1 – Allow candidates to share how they can align to our job role as per the description given to them. This will provide me with some understanding of whether the person is qualified for the position. Step 2 – I will ask scenario-based questions to pick up personality nuances of whether this person has the right soft skills. For example, logical thinking, command of the language, articulation of tone, stubbornness, and resilience. Step 3 – Identify salary requirements, notice period, availability, and visa status of the candidate to ensure they align with our hiring requirements. This information will allow the hiring manager to make better decisions on candidate selection. Step 4 – Before ending the interview , I will make known to the candidate that there will be further interviews with our hiring manager if they are shortlisted. I will also reveal the number of interview stages required before a candidate is hired for that particular job role. Step 5 – I will note my observations in the Applicant Tracking System and propose at least three candidates for my hiring manager to select. Suppose I feel that the candidate is qualified and someone “Very Wanted” , I will notify my stakeholder and convince them with reasons even if we need to apply for a work permit or VISA. For further stages of the interview , I may occasionally be required to sit in to help facilitate the interviewing process. • I feel like committing suicide, what should I do?

I feel like committing suicide, what should I do? Brought to you by: Lee Mcking Hypnotherapy Content written by: Lee McKing Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:56:48 am Say Hello Article Step-By-Step Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Why suicide became your option? 1) Clueless - Are you clueless that you needed help? 2) Helpless - Are you helpless because you are not sure where and how to get assistance from? 3) Social Stigma - Do you fear social stigma as people may ridicule you of your mental health? 4) Love - Is this because that your loved ones aren't treating you well? My personal experiences I nearly died in days or even minutes when my right lung burst in my sleep. The burst's cause is due to multiple large holes at the top of my right lung, and I have to go through an operation to prevent it from collapsing again. After the operation, the doctor warned me about the possibility of my left lung bursting as well. Since then, I started to worry every night, I have fears, but I do not know who to speak to, and slowly, I developed depression. I have thoughts of suicide and am contemplating. I thought of different killing methods, but I realized I would either look ugly or end up in an even worst state if I failed. I do not want my family members to be sad. I still have friends and people who care about me. I did not notice that I am suffering from suicidal thoughts for so long. Why didn't I realized my change of behaviors? Why didn't I tell anybody about my thoughts? Why am I suffering silently alone? This may also be the same process you are facing now. You are confused. You are not sure who to tell. You feared that instead of help was given, and you might get ridiculed or criticized. You felt helpless. How can I seek help? Step 1 Stop suffering quietly and recognise this is an issue that you shouldn't see lightly. Step 2 Ask yourself, who can I trust? Who can I speak comfortably to and share my worries with? Is this a family member or a close friend of mine? Step 3 If you feel that your loved ones are able to hear you out and help you, speak to them. If you wish to avoid letting your family and friends know about it first, you may consider seeking professional help. You can do so by emailing or calling to enquire how they can help you. They should help you identify what is happening to you and must allow you to feel better. If speaking to your family members was ineffective, you may also consider getting professional help as well. Never suffer alone! Step 4 Once you feel better, let your family members and friends know of your situation if they don't know. You will need to explain clearly why and how you are suffering all this to avoid assumptions. Remember, during difficult times, suicide is never the best form of escape. This is pushing of responsibilities to the ones left behind. For professional help, you can message Lee Mcking by clicking here ! Now I see the moon when I look up at night.” Retrieved from CEO Chronicles #20 Testimonials Mr Shesh is an extremely talented leader and a man of depth. I have worked with him since 2007 and have watched him head several well-known companies in the OSV sector in which he presided over well-planned growth and successful turning-around. He is a man of vision with the determination and capability to form/galvanise a capable team to deliver the vision. Besides being a businessman, he is also an accomplished engineer (fellow of SNAMES) and also an author of short stories on everyday life. Yujin chia, Vice President, Jurong Port Shesh moved into the ceo’s role (in Miclyn Express Offshore) during the worst offshore oil & gas market downturn in history and was instrumental in guiding the Group through this business cycle with a very clear strategy on cost reduction whilst at the same time improving operational excellence and generally making the business capability more robust. I believe the key to his success was Shesh’s ability to obtain buy-in from all employees within the company and to be very dogged about company and personal goal setting and unwavering in his support for all employees to achieve these goals. In addition to ensuring the resilience of the company during the industry downturn, Shesh continued to keep senior management focused on redefining our core business segments in order that fleet renewal related capital investments or divestures and potential M&A transactions would be more strategic and better place us for exponential growth for a future industry upward cycle. I feel that Shesh would have a positive impact on any organisation (including goal setting) within a short amount of time based on what I have experienced working with him at MEO and his legacy that continues. Brad Morphew, Business Head, Eastern Hemisphere, Miclyn Express Offshore I found Mr. Venkatraman Sheshashayee on LinkedIn. It was amazing to see his profile, and I connected with him immediately. This happened 4 months after I changed my previous job. Earlier I worked for 15 years with Siemens Healthineers, Bangalore. Since the time I changed the job last year (2019), there were some issues at my work place and I needed guidance. It was my privilege connecting with Mr. Shesh. I sent a simple message asking for help explaining my situation at a high level. To my surprise, he shared his contact number immediately and I got an opportunity to interact with an exceptional advisor. The discussion went for 40 minutes in the first call itself. Here are the amazing qualities of Mr. Shesh I noticed: - Active Listening - Patience - Understanding the situation and my feelings by asking more and more questions - Giving fantastic suggestions to come out of the situation - Follow up [This is extraordinary... I never thought I would get a call from him asking if I needed more help. I guess I got a call from him again after a month.] I can never forget the way he ended the call saying "Please execute all this with dedication". I followed his suggestions exactly the way he guided me and I can confidently say that I have crossed all the challenges in my work life with his guidance. Sometimes I still feel surprised how LinkedIn helped me by showing Mr. Shesh's profile at the right time. While writing this, I have become inarticulate to express my gratitude to Mr. Shesh for all his guidance and support [to just a Linked-In Contact]. • Far too many CCA choices in JC? Here's 4 tips to help you select!

Far too many CCA choices in JC? Here's 4 tips to help you select! Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: Christy Lee Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:57:52 am Say Hello Article Tips Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Why should I spend time on activities outside of the curriculum? Joining co-curricular activities (CCA) allows you to gain fresh perspectives and exposure while having a hiatus from academics. You might also discover your talents or passion and develop useful transferable skills while participating! Here are four factors to consider when selecting a CCA 1) Passion 2) Commitment 3) Scale 4) Relevance 1) Passion - What are you passionate about? The different areas may include Arts, sports, politics, research, and many more. - It is crucial to identify where your passion lies as passion fuels sustainability . Join activities you are genuinely enthusiastic about so that your journey with them will be long-lasting and meaningful. - Undeniably, one’s passion might change. Therefore, it’s up to you to decide whether you want to change or make continuity from secondary school. The switch from secondary school to junior college provides you with a good avenue to try out other things you are finding passion for. - If you have yet to find your passion, JC will also be a good time to develop your interest into a passion. Enter JC with an open mind and be willing to step out of your comfort zone to explore areas, even at the slightest curiosity. ----- Additional Tips ----- Having trouble identifying your passion? Fret not. It is recommended if you could attend a trial session first to confirm your passion. Learn about senior’s past experiences by asking questions like “Why did you join the activity initially?”, “What makes you stay in this activity?” to have a better understanding! 2) Commitment - Make a point to find out the commitment level of the CCA before joining by asking the head of that CCA or researching their online platforms. - Commitment level can range from low; You are primarily more involved in the execution phase to high, where you have to contribute much more frequently. - Consider your ability and willingness to commit in the short-term and long-term . With careful consideration, you are responsible for your learning as well as for others by making sure not to jeopardise their plans or progress due to your sudden withdrawal. - If you are really passionate for the CCA but cannot be certain of your commitment, attempt to discuss with the head if it is possible to have a short trial period before giving your final decision of continuing or discontinuing. ----- Additional Tips ----- While thinking through about your ability to commit, take into account both peak (examination periods) and non-peak (holidays) seasons. Looking at the big picture allows you to honour what you promise. 3) Scale i) Previously, in secondary school, most CCA were set in the school context. As a JC student, you are opened to more activities, not just CCA and of a greater scale, such as; - within school level - community level - national level - International level ii) Community-level activities can include serving residents by participating in the Meet-the-People session as a volunteer or community service projects to help vulnerable social groups. iii) Joining different scales of activities gives you varying experiences and learning points. Building on your experience from secondary school, re-think your learning objectives and choose the scale that you want and are able to handle. iv) However, keep in mind that often, the greater the scale, the higher the commitment, and you must be confident of being able to juggle it along with your studies! After all, ‘A’ Level is our ultimate JC goal. ----- Additional Tips ----- Unlike school-based activities, community level activities require you to take the initiative to reach out to both governmental or non-governmental organisations personally. Research on the agency websites for opportunities to sign up! 4) Relevance - Consider practical reasons for joining activities outside of the curriculum in JC . After the ‘A’ Levels, you will begin to apply for tertiary institutions or internships which require a strong portfolio for you to stand out. - Simply having a portfolio full of activities does not make it a strong one. Instead, the activities should be relevant to your future endeavours. - For example, if you would like to read about Medicine, you could join your school’s medical society. Suppose you would like to be in the research industry, you could participate actively in the famous student research opportunities like the Nanyang Research program. ----- Additional Tips ----- Look beyond JC. What is your future aspiration? How can you then begin to explore earlier while in JC? You may also like Starting JC? Here's 5 tips to ace it! Want to do well academically in JC? My child is obsessed with KPOP, what should I do? Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: Christy Lee Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:59:19 am Say Hello Article Tips Say Hello Share with someone you care ! I don't understand why K-POP is so attractive! If you are once a fan of a music group or a singer, you might understand why your child is so attracted to them. The reason is, your child had built a relationship with these musicians. We have identified five types of K-POP fan your child might be 1) Awakened Newbie 2) Material & Merchandise (M&M) 3) Know It All 4) Loyal Workaholic 5) Inspired Artist 1) Awakened Newbie Have you observed a sudden change in your child's behavior, such as; - Singing or humming Korean songs - Watching Korean variety of channels - Browsing K-pop articles This could be a sign that they have developed a new interest, and we call them, "Awakened Newbie " Note that at this stage, they will slowly develop to become the types discussed later. ----- How can I speak to my child? ----- This will be the best time to connect with them and understand what they like as they will be excited to share. You may start by asking, "Who is this person? He or she looks talented, or the music they make sounds good!". They will be likely to share more. 2) Material & Merchandise (M&M) Have you seen posters of unfamiliar faces, mugs, light sticks, and banners in your child's room? If yes, they could be "Material & Merchandise (M&M) ". Some fans believe that they could have a sense of attachment and help fund their idol by buying their merchandise. ----- How can I speak to my child? ----- With an open mind, develop curiosity in their purchased items. You may start by asking, "Who is this person on the poster? The poster looks good" Never turn this into an interrogation such as "why did you spend so much money?" 3) Know It All Fans who know their idols inside out are called “Know-it-all ”. Some examples include knowing their - Favorite color, food, hobby, and more - Recent news - Latest photos and videos ----- How can I speak to my child? ----- Know the name of their favorite idol and use recent news about them to spark meaningful conversation . Be the listening ear to learn more rather than criticizing because their idol has certain bad traits such as; tattoo, rebellious outlook, and more. 4) Loyal Workaholic “Loyal Workaholic ” are those who spent time to; - Maintain an online fan page - Create and edit videos and pictures to attract more fans - Create games to interact with other fans - Create multiple accounts to vote for their idol to clinch music awards Since they are loyal supporters, they find happiness and satisfaction from these actions. ----- How can I speak to my child? ----- Be interested to understand and improve their work, praise what is good. In a comfortable way, slowly let them know they should also focus on their academics. 5) Inspired Artist Did you observe that your child started dancing, singing, and occasionally speaking in an unfamiliar language? They are potentially an “Inspired artist”. They will start signing up for courses for singing, dancing, and Korean classes. When you observe their behavior at home or ask you for money for these courses, this is a clear indication they are inspired to be similar to their idol. ----- How can I speak to my child? ----- It would be good to be open and curious about the kind of interests they are into, such as the style of dancing and singing techniques. They will be excited to share. With the name of these styles, you can search online to understand further and generate more conversational topics. Additional Tip Your child might seem overly confident and proud of sharing their idol, and this is normal. However, you should not be affected by the way they speak and behave. If their actions are unacceptable, you may consider letting them know at a mood they are comfortable in first before starting yelling at them. Most importantly, never bring out your dissatisfaction about their hobby during quarrels! You may also like My partner doesn't feel loved. What should I do? Interviewing Skills (Recruiter) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:42:12 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! How do I effectively use this limited time to know about the candidate? What we need to pick up from this interview are; 1) How qualified is this person Depending on the industry and role, we may ask the person to do a qualifying test to understand how skillful and/or knowledgeable they are. Some companies will need the person to do IQ test . I will ask about the person's understanding of a specific topic relating to the job description and observe how they answer. This will give us information about the person's knowledge depth and exposure. 2) Character and personality Depending on industry and role, the candidate may have to take a personality test to see if they are the right fit. We will also pick up small nuances such as gestures, facial expressions, tonality, behaviours, and mentality. We will also capture whether if a person loves complaining, badmouthing, and being proud about their achievements. A good fit in terms of knowledge may not be a good fit as a team member or a leader. 3) Communication skills The ability to communicate with clarity, logicality, and relatability shows how focused they are with the interview. Moreover, if they are comfortable to speak to because they sounded humble and friendly , it is a plus point. 4) Interest level An interested candidate will usually ask questions about the company and the job . Some recruiters may directly ask the candidate how interested and eager they are in getting the job. Otherwise, some helpful questions to ask are; i) do you have interviews with other companies? ii) are there job offers in our company that you are interested in? iii) how eager are you to leave your current job? When there is a new alarm system being set up, I am required to visit customer premise to provide training and commissioning for them. *Commissioning is the process of assuring that all systems and components of a building or industrial plant are designed, installed, tested, operated, and maintained according to the operational requirements of the owner or final client. (From Wikipedia) 1) Conduct briefing to user on arming and disarming of alarm system by demonstrating the proper standard procedures. For example; - Ensure no one else are in the premises before arming. - Ensure all doors with door contact are fully closed . - Reporting procedures to our control center if there are any issue when arming the system. 2) Let user have the chance to experience the arming process to have better certainty on the procedures. This includes; - Passing them alarm tag (which is an item used to arm the system) and ask a few of the trainees to demonstrate the procedures in my presence. - Purposely set off the alarm to let the user have a firsthand experience of alarm activation . Moreover, during times of panic , they should know what setting to look out for and react to it. - Ensure trainee are aware the importance of giving control center a call to clarify they have reset the alarm system. • Do you have the qualities to be a student leader?

Do you have the qualities to be a student leader? Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: Christy Lee Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:57:46 am Say Hello Article Awareness Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Being a leader is far more than possessing the authority to make decisions. Leadership plays a crucial role in the growth of oneself, others, and in an organisation. Everyone will eventually be leaders in their ways. It is critical for students who have yet to realise their leadership potential to recognise it to step up to bring positive influence to their community. Here are four behaviours of a leader! 1) Self-initiative 2) People Development 3) See problems as opportunities 4) Having a vision 1) Self-initiative - When everyone else is restless and not enthusiastic for an event, or do not have a direction during teamwork, are you often the one who will usually step up to initiate an idea as a starting point? - Have you put forth your ideas and thoughts with confidence and managed to gain support and trust from your team members or friends? - If yes, you are showing self-initiation. This key leadership quality encourages progress and influences others to similarly put in effort to make great things happen. - A leader does not just initiate and leave . A leader suggests ideas, listens to different perspectives , and ensures that the plan is followed through to realise the desired outcome. 2) People Development - Do you possess the growth mindset and would like your team members and yourself to learn and grow through the experience together? - Do you often guide your peers, share skills, and provide insightful perspectives with them so that they gain new learning points? - If these apply to you, you have the leadership quality of growing and nurturing people , hoping that the people will improve and become better at the things they do. 3) See problems as opportunities - When problems arise, you do not run away from them. Instead, you face them with courage and lead your team to overcome it together. - You are a leader who sees difficulties as a challenge that can make your team stronger upon solving it. - Such leaders influence others to develop perseverance by not giving up and find ways to resolve problems and potentially turning them into opportunities! 4) Having a vision - In your Co-curricular Activities (CCA) or your class, have you proposed an ideal state for the team that you envision will be useful for everyone? - Alternatively, do you have the vision to create something that could make positive changes ? Such as improving quality of life, creating something that people enjoy, or to conduct research and implementation to make breakthrough advancement - Having the ability to analyse and create a vision of these three qualities, Beneficial, Realistic, and Feasible , is very important to make positive changes. - If you already possess these three qualities above, you are already embarking on a continuous leadership journey towards further developing and honing relevant skills! Support pre-tender activities (Mechanical) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:39:13 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Winning a project tender brings money into the company. Preparation work has to be done to ensure the best option is thought through before proposing the idea. Here are the processes to help you understand how to do it well; 1) Customers will inform us whether the tender is releasing via email or publication, together with their brief requirements. 2) Using our expertise, we research to acquire designs and concept implementations. We will then discuss with the manager and relevant stakeholders to align and agree on the direction forward. 3) If the tender is important and related to a fabricated part concerning structural integrity, we will pay professional analysts to study FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to ensure if an idea is structurally feasible. 4) With confirmed direction, we will work simultaneously to acquire the estimated price of the proposed budget, which includes; i) RFQ from at least three different suppliers to ensure cost consistency. Some requirements to use vendor may include; assembly services, certification by professional engineers (PE), safety, reliability, and authority certifications. ii) Depending on your project, source from online or Alibaba.com for ready “plug and use” industrial products and machinaries. Important information to acquire are; ISO certification, financial background, pricing, shipment cost, shipment size, payment term, delivery by batch or not, product depreciation. iii) For easily obtainable products, source raw prices from major E-Commerce sites like Amazon, AliExpress, and Lazada iv) If after-sales maintenance is charged to the customer seperately or to be included as a package when we bid for the tender 5) With the budget defined, we may propose to markup the price to achieve profitability in the tender. It is beneficial to show which segment of the budget is the most costly and how we can reduce it. 6) Once the tender is out, we will submit a proposal based on our findings. Shortlisting of candidate Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:42:21 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! An experienced recruiter only has 5 to 7 seconds to sift through a resume as we have hundreds and thousands to go through. So, what kind of skillsets does the recruiter need to shortlist candidates? 1) Acquire an understanding of hiring needs from the hiring manager, who usually is head of a department. You will need to understand what is the timeline to hire and negotiate if its unreasonable. 2) Summarise the hiring requirement based on i) years of experience ii) education and/or certificates iii) skillsets required iv) special skills required such as; language literacy v) name of the role 3) With these requirements, shortlist by; i) Country of Education ii) Industry relevancies and experiences iii) Credentials such as certificates and achievements iv) VISA status 4) Once shortlisted, we will check and clarify information with the candidate to ensure the person is the right fit. I will also take some time to browse through the candidate's work if they have it online. 5) Once a candidate is shortlisted, I will contact them via email or a call to arrange for a suitable timing and platform/location for the interview. Taking this opportunity, I will also let this candidate know what to expect for the interview. Note 1) An experienced recruiter usually has 3 to 5 stakeholders to handle and can easily manage the hiring process of 7 roles all at once. 2) It is important you prioritise which role to shortlist first as this is a measure of your KPI 3) For some recruiters, they may focus to do all shortlisting tasks within a week depending on the dynamics of the work You may also like Acquire and post job description (Recruiter) Interviewing process (Recruiter) Interviewing Skills (Recruiter) Disclaimer We did our best to provide you with thought-through content. • How can I overcome the wall of resistance?

How can I overcome the wall of resistance? Brought to you by: Natural Genius Academy Content written by: Anji Hallewell Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:57:17 am Say Hello Article How-To Guide Say Hello Share with someone you care ! For progress to occur, stepping out of our comfort zones is the hardest thing to do. The reluctance to step out of our comfort zones often makes us resistant to change as it allows us to feel safe. However, resisting changes could potentially prevent us from improving and growing into better individuals. Below are three core elements to push through your doubt, fears, and worries that keep you playing a smaller game. 1) What is resistance 2) When it shows up 3) How to move beyond it 1) What is resistance The parameters to make decisions may differ depending on the amount of fear, worry, and doubts we have within us and how we choose to act upon it. In this case, our initial resistance to change knows where our comfort zone lies and the parameters surrounding it. Therefore, this resistance acts as a guardian to keep us within those boundaries and protect us from stepping out of our comfort zones. Identifying such resistance or knowing the cause of worry and fear will help you rationalize and understand that it may be just a feeling of uncertainty or overthinking. Some common thoughts may include; - Someone might disagree with me - I am not capable enough to do this - I am not sure if I will regret doing this 2) When it shows up When the guardian; “your resistance to change” shows up, the mind will think of reasons to convince you that it is safer to remain in your current state; and encourages you to stay in your comfort zone. The more you give in to this resistance, the more you are reluctant to step out to become the person you aspire to be. Once you concretize such beliefs, it projects your fear and allows you to think that: “this is impossible for me.” So, do you wish to have such resistance hampering your life or risk stepping out of your comfort zone to take control of your own life? 3) How to move beyond it We all have past experiences where we bypassed our doubts and fear to accomplish things we wish to do. So, what inspires this sudden drive? It is usually an impactful event that spurs us forward to be brave enough to overcome that certain fear. However, do you wish to always be in such stressful situations? To move beyond this, you have to acknowledge that resistance exists, just like how both opponents in Dojo, a form of martial arts, will look at each other in the eyes. Only by acknowledging one another, they can then know and predict each other’s next move. Similarly, you have to acknowledge and overcome your resistance by assessing it rationally and telling yourself that your fears are invalid by having a solution to it. You can then step out of your comfort zone with confidence . This will allow you to take advantage of your own potential and progress! Testimonials I found out that my life has been very messy, which affected my productivity. Anji's programme gave a deeper look into myself which has really benefited me. The thing I took away was how practical the exercises were. I could practice at work or at home. I just needed 2 or 3 mins of time to get myself back to the center. So, far it's worked out very well for me, as I am an overthinker and it really disrupts my work Brian, School Manager I found myself very caught up in to-do lists, negative thoughts and harsh judgements on myself. I was easily overwhelmed and missing out on fun experiences. I'd used a few apps in the past but I didn't really know how to take it into the real world. After, I found myself more in touch with what was going on. I was able to identify how I was feeling in situations and able to accept or change them. I felt calmer and I had the ability to cope with unpleasant situations, as well as, being mindful and present for all the fun things too. Sally, Advertising Executive I took the programme because i wanted to better understand what to do when i felt anxious. after the programme, I feel like I can better regulate my thoughts and emotions which has helped me not just at work but in my personal life. I'd like to recommend this programme for those who'd like to better understand how their mind works, to regulate their emotions and would like to be more self-aware.
