  • Attending to fault call

Attending to fault call Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:54:21 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Fault call is activated when Command Centre did not receive arming signal even though the premise is supposedly armed at that particular timing. This is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from security response where alarm will be sounded off. This is when we will call the customer and assure arming has already been made. If not, we will visit the premise. Our Job Process includes; 1) Drive company car to visit the premise to check on both alarm and entry access system for any system abnormalities. Entry access systems are systems that require users to flash their ID card or token in order to enter the premise. 2) Clarify and verify if there are issues related to sensor, loose wire, connectivity, power, programming, or communication. - We have our personal toolbox containing mechanical and electrical equipment required for testing and simple reparation. Typical tools used are Allen key, Screwdriver set, wire crimper, multimeter, laptop, and electrical diagrams. - Typical issues that we can resolve are; simple reconnection of cables and wires by crimping , replacement of sensors, ballast, fuse, and reprogramming of the software. - If technical fault issues are unable to be resolved within our capabilities, we will transfer to the technical department where they have contractors with manpower to handle. 3) We aim to finish troubleshooting within the day to minimize the usage of manpower since another person from the next shift must take over. Knowing when to inform the technical department or resolving ourselves is important. If unsure, seek help quickly , especially for new employees. 4) We will provide a report after fault rectification, typically called After Action Review (AAR). 5) This is a one-man job and is considered a shift. Acquire and post job description (Recruiter) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:42:01 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! The criteria of a job is a job description, and the hiring manager has to pass it to me. 1) Understand hiring requirements before finding and shortlisting candidates. This is usually sent via an official email before I can proceed with recruiting. Important information includes; i) Rank (e.g., Executive role, Senior role, Manager role) ii) Education iii) Job description iv) Years of experience v) Nationality vi) Hiring budget 2) I will seek clarification if unclear about the job description. For example; i) Typo error that may mean differently, especially for acronyms ii) Based on our experiences with a particular role, clarify if the hiring manager is comfortable to hire fresh graduates, foreigners, or gender preferences due to the nature of the work iii) Clarify if the role should be a senior or managerial role due to the years of experience requested iv) If the hiring term is a contract with a simple job description, clarify if hiring an intern will be a better choice for them 3) For some companies, you may have to understand the hiring budget and advise if it's too low or high. 4) Once clarified, I will post job descriptions on multiple job hiring sites to attract candidates to apply. I may personally headhunt (active sourcing) if the role is a niche one. Otherwise, outsource to external recruiting companies if the timeline and skillsets is highly critical. 5) If the hiring outcome isn't favourable because the hiring requirement is very niche, I will suggest a new job description for a junior role so we can reach out to more candidates. Selecting the correct camera means meeting functionality at an optimum cost. It is important to acquire this skillset when you are doing project management. Here are the considerations you should take note! 1) Is the camera used indoor or outdoor? This will determine the IP rating of your camera. e.g. IP64 2) Is the camera required to pan, rotate and zoom? Knowing what you need will optimise your cost 3) Do you need your camera to have a thermal function? For temperature detection and to detect areas that are dark 4) Do you need your camera to record audio? 5) What video resolution and effective distance do I need for my application? 6) What frame rate do I need for my application? 7) What network protoccol can this camera support? 8) Should I have a POE or a WIFI camera? • Marking Examinations (Tertiary Education)

Marking Examinations (Tertiary Education) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:39:57 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Marking allows us to understand the student's performance and intervene promptly to help them learn better. Here, we identified the good practices in marking; 1) For first timer as a marker in the module, I will find time to mark with experienced markers to identify how to address grey areas in marking. For example, if the answer is not in the answer sheet but based on our experiences, it is logical, what should we do? This is when we will establish marking criteria to align with the module objective 2) During marking, we should always stick to the module's intention rather than personal preference and relationship with the student. This is unfair and is unprofessional as a lecturer to do so. Moreover, there will always be quality control whereby experienced markers will pick a few marked scripts to vet and question if need be. If caught and you can't explain logically, you will be removed, and your reputation will be negatively affected. 3) Depending on the school's regulation, you may hire someone or ask a junior colleague to assist you in marking if you are overwhelmed with other areas of work. You will only need to go through the papers after the marking and clarify doubts if the marker has. • Patient's nutrition care

Patient's nutrition care Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:45:02 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Ensure patients have proper nutrition intake to enhance their recovery. Dependent on the patient's status and condition; 1) If a patient is nil-by-mouth (unable to swallow food adequately), specialised feeding techniques must be administered, either through tube feeding or given via IV nutrition. 2) If a patient is awake and can swallow food but is unable to use hands, we will have to serve them regular food. It is always good to wait for the patient to finish chewing before feeding the next spoon. Clear their food once they have finished consuming. 3) If a patient cannot chew food, we will modify their food texture and serve them soft food such as porridge, mash potatoes, and yogurt. We also use thickeners as specified by doctors in their drinks depending on their ability to swallow. 4) Afterwards, we have to record and monitor each patient's food and fluid intake into the system. This includes ½ vegetable, ½ soup, ¾ rice. Tips Never neglect and be extra aware of each patient's dietary needs , contraindications, and to assist them accordingly. Any negligence can have a detrimental effect. Many patients dislike the taste of thickeners and want us to put less into their food, but nurses will still have to follow instructions and set the right amount of thickener to ensure compliance. Definitions Thickeners Used in liquid foods/drinks, it makes the food a thicker consistency that is less likely to cause aspiration (problems in swallowing) and is highly recommended for patients who can no longer swallow normal food safely. Because thickened liquids travel down the throat at a slower pace, making it easier to control. Therefore the liquid won't go down to the lungs and cause aspiration, coughing, choking, and problems. Contraindications To withhold certain treatment and medication as it may be deemed harmful to the patient. • How to use FengShui 5 elements to your benefits?

How to use FengShui 5 elements to your benefits? Brought to you by: Max Liang FengShui Content written by: Max Liang Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:56:57 am Say Hello Article Awareness Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Five elements, namely Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, has been the cornerstone of Chinese Metaphysics and Traditional Chinese Medicine. The balance of the five elements denotes a balance of the body , thereby leading to a balanced life and health. Because of interdependencies between elements, any excess or insufficiency will affect its cycle leading to undesirable situations. To know more about the representations of 5 elements, click here to download a complementary illustration by Master Max. Hence, the art of balancing is shared here so you can adopt and understand how this can better help you. Benefits include being able to identify intrinsic health issue and enhance health and success. The production cycle is Earth produces Metal Metal produces Water Water produces Wood Wood produces Fire Fire produces Earth Cycle continues The destruction cycle is Metal destroys Wood Wood Destroys Earth Earth destroys Water Water Destroys Fire Fire Destroys Metal Cycle continues Case study 1 Client's career is not smooth-sailing because she lack trustworthy support from co-workers at work. During a conversation with her, she seems timid and worrisome. She also fears to take on new challenges and responsibilities at work. From this, we can infer she lacks water elements since water's negative emotions are associated with worry and fear. This fear hinders her from taking on responsibilities, thus affecting her career. To boost her courage and help her take on a more proactive approach, advice was given for her to consume more tonic to support her Kidney since Kidney is the representative organ of water element. Since Earth element destroys water, we would like to reduce her Earth element to reduce her worry and fear. Advice was given for her to consume ginger supplements to warm up her liver, which is a wood element. (since wood element reduces her excess of Earth). To create change, my client’s mindset is important as this effectively impact mind-body balance. I explained to her the importance of being opened and receptive to ideas and practice seeing things with positivity. Results Due to the effectiveness of mind-body treatment, client is able to improve both mental and physical health. Her performance at work place has also improved. Case study 2 Requested to look at Fengshui in client’s house and upon questioning realized; 1) Client has consistent pain in the leg 2) Client’s mother has rheumatism (inflammation and pain in joints and muscles) A two signs of excess of water element in the family as bone problems are associated with water. Through observation, we can see that a pond extends from outside into the center of the house, and the house faces North which welcomes water energy. This explains why the client is experiencing an excess of water. 1) To resolve, advice was given to removed water in the pond and sealed it. 2) Next, construct a wooden platform that extends from the center of the house to the exterior as wood element can improve life vitality and create balance in the usage of elements. Results Reported pain subsided within weeks For more enquiry on balancing your 5 elements, contact Master Max by clicking here! You may also like I think my loved one is suicidal. How can I help? Simplify a topic (Tertiary Education) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:40:22 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! A good lecturer breaks down the difficult topic into smaller and easier chunks for the students to digest effectively. When the students can understand your work, you know that you have successfully simplified the topic. Here are a few ways you may adopt; 1) Use visualisation Certain topics can't be explained using words; hence, before you deliver the lesson , it is good for you to find diagrams, videos, flowcharts, and other visuals to enhance your student's learning. A good rule of thumb is simplicity in the content 2) Give examples When certain concepts are hard to explain using words and diagrams because they require experience, you can consider using the following to deliver the lesson; i) Story ii) Analogy iii) Scenarios iv) Experiment v) Demonstration 3) Provide step-by-step guide What we know does not mean that the students will, and we can't assume that. When teaching, we might sometimes skip steps unknowingly , and this potentially creates a gap. What could help you is to create materials to; i) provide derivations step by step when working with equations ii) provide flowcharts for processes that have to be memorised iii) provide instructions on how to operate or set up equipment iv) provide instructions on how to install programs and use their functions These will potentially save you time from repeatedly explaining to different students. Tips Because you may be busy with more than one module and have limited time to create quality materials for teaching, you may ask colleagues for such materials . Here are a few ways you can do to manage your developers well! 1) Know your stuffs Depending on the character of the team, some developers tend to propose a long timeline to complete a task with the intention of "buffer" . It is important you seek understanding via; i) asking other developers and colleagues if such job is time-consuming ii) ask the developer to identify the processes of their intended implementation and seek clarity on "showstopper." iii) read more about the task and identify ways if you can negotiate the shorten their timeline proposed. iv) help them priortise if they are managing multiple projects 2) Give clear instructions Provide the developer with a list of tasks and relevant timelines. This will be the checklist that will guide them with their work. It is crucial to break down a big job into chunks of smaller ones to help them achieve the goals in a step-by-step process. Set up meetings to understand what can be done and identify such instructions together with them . You may have them be in the discussions with clients to help them understand the situation better. 3) Prioritisation When there is a sudden surge in demand, developers tend to feel overwhelmed suddenly and unsure of which project to focus on. It is important as manager/project coordinator to keep in close contact with clients and identify which project could be prioritised over another. This often taps on your skills to repurpose more manageable tasks upfront to meet customer's expectations while buying more time for your team. It would help if you can also communicate frequently when prioritisation changed . 4) Outsource or hire if necessary Depending on budgetry, confidentiality and difficulty , decide with your team, who often have more technical depths on areas that could be outsourced or delegated to new hires. Ask questions such as "what solutions do you proposed?", "is your limitation by software or not enough people?", if not enough people, "can these solutions be done by someone else?", "do we need a junior, senior, or can we outsource to freelancers?". If you finally decide to hire, you need to consider the time taken for your team to train a new employee and guide them on the right track. 5) Provide support for training Such support depends on the roles to decide on depths in technicality. As a manager/project coordinator, you should gear yourself to understand software architectures and new features your team could potentially adopt. Ease of implementation should be in your consideration. For developers, you should allocate resources to help them acquire technical know-how to help them feel more competent with their job. This training should be related to your current projects and future potential ones. You need to discuss with team leaders who have technical depths on the type of training to go for. 6) Burnout management An employee who is burned out can have negative effects; such as i) making unintended careless mistakes ii) unable to resolve problems effectively iii) more prone to being hot-tempered iv) takes longer time to accomplish a task v) reduced morale Although treating your team frequently to free meals is viable for the short term, long term burnout is still a problem. As manager/project coordinator, you need to decide if hiring is a viable option , especially when you sense your team's morale is dropping. • Routine checks (Nurse)

Routine checks (Nurse) Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: WE Development Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:44:57 am Say Hello Article Job Process Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Ensure patient meets the necessary requirement to survive and to maintain their well-being 1) Check ECG monitor and compare with previous record if there is any steep changes . This is important to ensure the patient’s health is well monitored and anomalies to be reported immediately. 2) Check to ensure the ventilator (breathing equipment) is set correctly. If the patient keeps coughing, feels uncomfortable and has odd behaviors, this may be the issue. If you tried and problem persists, you may have to send the patient to critical care. 3) To ensure blood and fluid flow are smooth, check; i) Tubing to ensure they are not kink (pressed) that would cause the flow to stop ii) Loose tubing that would also prevent flow from happening 4) If patients are too violent due to emotions and/or pain, they will tend to pull fluid tubing out, which affects their medical stability. We will then have to use sedative drugs to keep them asleep . If we observe they are sweating, we will have to take their temperature to check if they have a fever. Tips For accountability purposes, always check if the actual readings of ECG are the same as the report provided in the time slot by the previous shift. If numbers are incorrect, seek clarifications and rectify accordingly. Ensure the nurse from the previous shift is aware of the changes and have them acknowledged with a written note and signature. This is important because if the patient pass away suddenly, the person on shift is held accountable . • Far too many CCA choices in JC? Here's 4 tips to help you select!

Far too many CCA choices in JC? Here's 4 tips to help you select! Brought to you by: WE Development Content written by: Christy Lee Last Updated: 9 June 2021 at 2:57:52 am Say Hello Article Tips Say Hello Share with someone you care ! Why should I spend time on activities outside of the curriculum? Joining co-curricular activities (CCA) allows you to gain fresh perspectives and exposure while having a hiatus from academics. You might also discover your talents or passion and develop useful transferable skills while participating! Here are four factors to consider when selecting a CCA 1) Passion 2) Commitment 3) Scale 4) Relevance 1) Passion - What are you passionate about? The different areas may include Arts, sports, politics, research, and many more. - It is crucial to identify where your passion lies as passion fuels sustainability . Join activities you are genuinely enthusiastic about so that your journey with them will be long-lasting and meaningful. - Undeniably, one’s passion might change. Therefore, it’s up to you to decide whether you want to change or make continuity from secondary school. The switch from secondary school to junior college provides you with a good avenue to try out other things you are finding passion for. - If you have yet to find your passion, JC will also be a good time to develop your interest into a passion. Enter JC with an open mind and be willing to step out of your comfort zone to explore areas, even at the slightest curiosity. ----- Additional Tips ----- Having trouble identifying your passion? Fret not. It is recommended if you could attend a trial session first to confirm your passion. Learn about senior’s past experiences by asking questions like “Why did you join the activity initially?”, “What makes you stay in this activity?” to have a better understanding! 2) Commitment - Make a point to find out the commitment level of the CCA before joining by asking the head of that CCA or researching their online platforms. - Commitment level can range from low; You are primarily more involved in the execution phase to high, where you have to contribute much more frequently. - Consider your ability and willingness to commit in the short-term and long-term . With careful consideration, you are responsible for your learning as well as for others by making sure not to jeopardise their plans or progress due to your sudden withdrawal. - If you are really passionate for the CCA but cannot be certain of your commitment, attempt to discuss with the head if it is possible to have a short trial period before giving your final decision of continuing or discontinuing. ----- Additional Tips ----- While thinking through about your ability to commit, take into account both peak (examination periods) and non-peak (holidays) seasons. Looking at the big picture allows you to honour what you promise. 3) Scale i) Previously, in secondary school, most CCA were set in the school context. As a JC student, you are opened to more activities, not just CCA and of a greater scale, such as; - within school level - community level - national level - International level ii) Community-level activities can include serving residents by participating in the Meet-the-People session as a volunteer or community service projects to help vulnerable social groups. iii) Joining different scales of activities gives you varying experiences and learning points. Building on your experience from secondary school, re-think your learning objectives and choose the scale that you want and are able to handle. iv) However, keep in mind that often, the greater the scale, the higher the commitment, and you must be confident of being able to juggle it along with your studies! After all, ‘A’ Level is our ultimate JC goal. ----- Additional Tips ----- Unlike school-based activities, community level activities require you to take the initiative to reach out to both governmental or non-governmental organisations personally. Research on the agency websites for opportunities to sign up! 4) Relevance - Consider practical reasons for joining activities outside of the curriculum in JC . After the ‘A’ Levels, you will begin to apply for tertiary institutions or internships which require a strong portfolio for you to stand out. - Simply having a portfolio full of activities does not make it a strong one. Instead, the activities should be relevant to your future endeavours. - For example, if you would like to read about Medicine, you could join your school’s medical society. Suppose you would like to be in the research industry, you could participate actively in the famous student research opportunities like the Nanyang Research program. ----- Additional Tips ----- Look beyond JC. What is your future aspiration? How can you then begin to explore earlier while in JC? You may also like Starting JC? Here's 5 tips to ace it! Want to do well academically in JC?
